Dear Moderator,
Here is the final cut of our group's film opening, Dog Tag. We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!
Since marketing our film on social media we have been gaining more feedback from our target audience. Most of the feedback has been really positive. However, a point that has reoccurred numerous time is the animation of the titles. Many felt that the style of it zooming in fast was distracting to the other visual elements. Therefore we have decided to change the animation style from zooming in to a fade in. We also thought it would be appropriate to slow the speed down so it would match the initial tone and speed of the diegetic music at the start of the sequence.

Media Evaluation - Question 3 - Group
Question 3 -What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Universal Studios Successful Films:
1) Jurassic Park
2) Furious 7
3) Meet The Fockers
4) Fast & Furious 6
5) The Bourne Ultimatum
Warner Bros. Successful Films:
1) The Dark Knight
2) Hangover
3) Gravity
4) The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
5) I Am Legend
We have chosen Universal Studios because of the fact that they are one of the big six film studios, keeping in mind so are Warner Bros. The main reason we chose Universal Studios over Warner Bros is because we believe that they had a lot more experience in the film industry, they were established in 1912, and as they started to produced their first few movies, the gained a mass audience and throughout the years they have earned a good reputation for themselves. They have had record breaking success with some of their films in terms of box office, such as Jaws, E.T. and Jurassic Park. We hope that with their status and reputation within the film industry it would help our film to be very successful too.
Some of the films they have produced matched our type of story and the action genre, such as the Bourne and Fast & Furious franchise. Although we are a small British production company we think the quality of our film has the potential to be a big success. Universal is the parent company of the British production company Working Title so we think they could also have the interest of working with our production company as we will be making films that are quite different from Working Title. Our film Dog Tag, and other films we will make in the future, will be more mainstream and would reach wider audiences and more men than women, which is opposite to Working Title.
Being with a big distributer like Universal would also mean we would have access to a bigger budget, which we would require and better distribution deals. They have experience in marketing films which would help attract our audience in the UK and America. They would also be able to help after the film has been in the cinema as they are a company that is vertically integrated.

Sources Used To Help Me - Chirag
I searched up videos on voice overs in a film and used this to help me produce a voice over for our film opening. By looking at this video I looked at how the voice over actors are emphasizing on different words and sentences to produce a perfect matching voice over to the video footage and how it matches. So from this video I looked at how I could take some tips to make our voice over match our video footage
As we wanted to include a fight scene in our film opening we looked at videos on how to choreograph fight scenes to make it look realistic. From this video I looked at how their fight scene looked and then looked at the choreography of their fight scene and took into consideration to how I can make the fight scene realistic.
Sources Used To Help Me - Vinay
This
video helped me when I was editing the film. I wanted to make our film opening
as professional as possible therefore I went for an action look.
We
have included a fight scene in our opening and when filming the fight scene
this video helped me in terms of what I should and shouldn't do. Also I learnt
how to shoot and choreograph fight scene.
We
used a DSLR to film our opening and therefore I wanted to get the most out of
my camera so I researched what types of setting and techniques I should use
when filming with a DSLR.
I
purchased a Steadicam however I did not know how to use it therefore I searched
for tutorials on how to use it and found this tutorial to be the most helpful
one.
We
included foley sound in our film opening however at first i didn't know how to
make punching sounds. This video helped in when i made the punching sound
effects.
This
video helped me when framing my shots and also what types of shots i should use.
This
was the first time I ever setup and edited a voiceover and this video helped me
in terms of techniques to get the best voiceover.

Dog Tag - Rough Cut 2
This is our second rough cut. The reason why we did a re-shoot was because Vinay spotted several mistakes in our first rough cut. He decided that he could shoot the scenes again and make major improvements. This is our second rough cut and we are pleased with this outcome.
